As you all know the end of the world is near. It will happen on 21st December 2012. That is exactly the problem for all of us needleworkers with considerable amount of WIP's and UFO's. How embarassing to die in an apocalypse and leaving all those unfinished projects behind! So measi is hosting the one and only WIPOCALYPSE 2012 on her blog. Please go there for the rules - they are really simple. It is based on cross stitch, but knitting and patchwork projects are allowed too.
My WIPOCALYPSE list is shown on the right edge of this blog.

Just plain nuts
So weit so gut.
I am stark raving mad. I joined the Crazy January Challenge 2012 bei Yahoogroups It sounded so nice at the beginning. On each day from January 1st to January 15th each member starts a cross stitch project and tries to finish it during the year 2012. That is quite a fine challenge. The motivation will stay on a high level and you are able to marvel all those beautiful projects of the other members. After all there are already more than 1700 projects and they grow every day.
Fine.
So I already put in two large Chatelaine projects in it - but no - that's not enough. There is also the Modified Ultimate Crazy January Challenge where another project is started for each day from 16th to 31st January and WIP's are allowed here - and that's what I am going to do! That means I have to finish 3 projects a month! Ok, I know that's far to much, so I focus to finish the first 15 projects and try to stitch as much as I can on the other 16.
Projekt 1: Evening in the Park - Chatelaine Designs
Projekt 2: Snowflake Serenade - Country Cottage Needlework
Projekt 3: Hen Party - Waxing Moon Design
Projekt 4: Mediterrenean Mermaid - Mirabilia
Projekt 5: Peace - Erica Michaels
Projekt 6: Lavender Hill - Little House Needleworks
Projekt 7: Konstantinopel Hamam - Chatelaine
Projekt 8: Curly Q Ewe - Little House Needleworks
Projekt 9: Acorn - Hill Side Samplings
Projekt10: Strawberries forever - Told in a garden
Projekt 11: Clear Moon - Prairie Schooler (2nd Picture)
Projekt 12: Christmas snow - Waxing moon
Projekt 13: Rabbit Habit - Cross eyed Chricket (Rabbit)
Projekt 14: Official Crazy Cat Lady - Raise the Roof Designs
Projekt 15: Snapper Calender - Bent creek

Finally the packages from fatquartershop.com passed clearance at local custom! I bought these warm colored fabrics as an early Christmas present for myself. There are 39 fat quarters plus some yards for background and binding from the design Flannel days by Kansas Trouble Quilters.
I already designed two Quilts for these fabrics. Unfortunately I won't have the time to make them in the near future - they are probably projects for the next year. The Bear-Quilt is about 48 x48 inches and is inspired by my rather fat cat Jason who's nickname is Bärchen (it's German for sweet little Bear).
The second quilt is about 37 x 37 inches and will be used as plaid for a seat cushion.

Earth and Sky
Mein Earth and Sky Schal ist fertig!
My Earth and Sky Shawl is finished! I really like the colors of it. This shawl was a mystery project and I didn't know the pattern when I selected the wool for it.
Pattern: Earth and Sky
Designer: Stephen West
Garn: Lana Grossa Cool Wool
The next project is a sleeveless vest and it's nearly half way done. As you can see I got lot of help form Amy.

I ordered some strawberries last winter. Unfortunately the summer was so rainy that the could not be delivered as promised in August. But they are here now!
They were covered in spelt. As the spelt is not dirty I will let it dry and make some cat pillows in winter :-)

I wonder if I manage to finish the Lady this time. Normally she ends up in the UFO basket after a few stitches in summer. The figure itself is easy to stitch but those dam... nice ornaments are taking forever. I already started to stitch the beads on it - otherwise I will never do it. It is an awful work - but it looks really pretty!
I stitched the face over one. I'm not very happy with the colors, but frogging those tiny stitches is not possible without damaging the fabric.

Wiedereinmal Bento
After my Illness and lot of work with the redecoration I like to make more bento boxes with healthy food for the office. Today there were a lot of vegetables in one box - cooked green beans, fried mushrooms and raw carrots; in the other box were two little burgers, cherry tomatos and rice with peas.
